End Of Season Review 2014-2015 U.S Sassuolo Finish Season In Form

Well what an enjoyable season, when I took over the club in January we were languishing in the relegation zone after 17 games. The first thing I did was clear out the staff and bring better quality coaches in to the club, I was given a transfer fund of £7m but I was confident we had the player’s to turn our season around, so i just brought 2 players in to the club,Giampaolo Pazzini from AC Milan for £375k and Winger Federico Bernardeschi on loan from Fiorentina.

I decided to use my 4-3-3 attacking system which as served me well in the past alongside a tweeked version of my 4-3-3 formation.

4-3-3 narrow

4-3-3 wide

So the new era kicked off with 2 defeats, the first we got knocked out of the Coppa Italia with a 3-1 defeat away at Napoli despite looking the better side. We then crashed 3-1 again at Lazio before embarking on a 9 game unbeaten run which lifted us out of the relegation zone. The front trident of Sansone,Zaza and Berardi looked unstoppable netting 22 goals in the 9 games between them with the highlight being 2 back to back wins against Juventus and Milan.

9 wins in our last 11 games pushed us up the table and an 8th placed finish and just 3 points behind Napoli in fourth.

I cant help feel that if I had taken over earlier we would have qualified for Europe.

I am now looking forward to next season and expect to do a little business in the transfer window has I attempt to take U.S Sassuolo to the next level.
