We arrived back in Nottingham last night after Pre Season in Europe were we looked to have gained some valuable match fitness ready for this weekend’s kick off. No sooner am I back home I have had an early start this morning with a meeting with the club’s board about their expectations for the season ahead. It’s been 16 years since we were in the Premier League and it’s good to be back.
So what are the boards expectations, well first season back I was expecting them to say mid table finish, stabilise the club in the Premier League sounds reasonable enough.
Well the minimum expectation is that we qualify for the Europa League , reach the 6th round of the FA Cup and reach the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup. No pressure there then, we have to hit the ground running.
A day off for the squad today then it’s back to the training ground tomorrow for opening game of the season against Chelsea on Saturday.
We have got no fitness issues at the moment so I will have the full squad at my disposal apart from Nélson Oliveira and Lasse Vigen Christensen who are both still away at the Olympics.
Last season I had a 20 man squad for most part but this season I am going to have a 24 or 25 man 1st team squad. I think we are going to need that amount to remain competitive.
Tomorrow after training I am going to have a look at how our youth intake are settling in to our Academy. I will post some screenshots of our talented U18’s managed by Jack Lester who did a fantastic job in taking our boys to the Youth Cup Final.
