Reds Finding It Tough In The Premier League #FM16

We have had a very difficult start to life in the Premier League losing our first 3 games

August 2016

Premier League Away  Chelsea

Lost 2-4 (Assombalonga 2)

Our opening game at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea we went down 4-2 but it could have been a different story we were leading 2-1 with both goals coming from the returning Britt Assombalonga when we had a 3rd Assombalonga goal ruled out for offside in the second half. We had to deal with a fast Chelsea side and despite having more possession we shipped two late goals to go down 4-2

Premier League Home  Crystal Palace

Lost 0-2

A poor performance from us as we reverted back to our 4-2-3-1 system that served us so well last season. Again we had the lions share of possession but we looked really poor at the back as Dawson and Vestergaard looked to be exposed far to much.

Capital One Cup 2nd Round Home  Derby County

Won 1-0 (Oliveira)

A Nelson Oliveira strike was the difference in this end to end game. I have to give Derby credit they came to the City Ground and gave us a run for our money. We are lacking in confidence after our first 2 games.

Premier League Away Aston Villa

Lost 3-4 (Mendes, Christensen, +1 og )

Another defeat at the hands of Villa who started the day in 3rd place. Villa gave us the run around in a game that we stuck to our 4-2-3-1 which I changed to a 4-4-2 at half time by playing Assombalonga and Oliveira up top.We pinched two late goals late on via Mendes and Lasse Vigen Christensen.

Premier League Table August 2016

Its early days but I am feeling a little pressure as we look for our first win and with the transfer window about to shut I am finding myself questioning our system. We dominated the Championship last season with the 4-2-3-1 but the Premier League is a different kettle of fish. We are preparing for the visit of Watford to the City Ground before we hit the road to play Manchester City and then Birmingham City In the Capital One Cup before ending the month with the visit of Liverpool. A big month ahead for us as we try to lift the morale around Nottingham.
